Coral Bay

Dear Grade 4 and everyone else who is reading.

We have been at Coral Bay for Two days. It's been 9000 kilometers since we left home.

On our way here I got to have a look up inside the truck in the photo. It has a bunk bed, a microwave and a toaster in it.

Coral Bay is one of my most favourite places in Australia. It has the most fish and coral that I have ever seen.

We learned not to feed fish bread and that it's illegal to feed them at all

Walking and Walking and Walking......

Dear Grade 3, Edel, family & friends,

From Broome we went to Port Hedland. Port Hedland is a little town with a Salt pile in it. Salt is used for glass, plastics and food. There was lots of big ships collecting iron and taking it to China.

On our way to Karijini National Park we stopped to get petrol and get something to eat at Auski roadhouse, while we were there a lady asked my brother and I if we wanted a surprise. I said 'yes please' and the lady came around the counter with a little cute joey. The mum had been killed by a car on the highway and the joey was in the pouch, the girls working at the roadhouse were going to look after the joey until it grew older to look after itself.

On Tuesday my family and I went to a national park called the Karijini national park. Lots of walking and Walking AND WALKING!

now we are in Tom Price. Today we did a mine tour of Tom Price mine which mines Iron.

Next we are heading to Coral Bay. We might be able to swim with whale sharks because they are not deadly.

Broome to Tom Price

Dear Grade 4 and every one else who is reading.
After Broome we when't to De-Gray river. we spent one night there and there were lots of bugs and a grass hopper flew into Graces face(Grace is my sister) we had an open fire at no fire place no rocks to stop the fire from starting a bush fire just open.After de gray river we whent to port hedlend it was the second BIG 4 holiday park we have been to on this trip.now every one that thinks the picture of snow down the bottom of this page is snow then you are absolutely wrong it is actually salt that's right salt they get it to make glass plastic cleaning products and much more they also mine iron to send to china to send back to us as toy cars real cars and any other things that's metal and says "made in -china".

After port headlend we when't to Karijini national park there were lots of walks involving water.

After Karijini we went to tom price and set up and that was it.

dear grade 4 and every one else who is reading.
i'm sorry i haven't written for a while but I've been having so much fun that i haven't had time. any way once we left timber creek we drove to lake argyle it is the biggest lake in Australia. I think a place with that many cane toads deserves an olympian gold medal and should break the Guinness world record, they were everywhere. we swam in the lake which was very warm, much warmer than the pool. Now any of you who thinks that there are crocodiles in the lake then you are right but they are far away and they are freshwater and they are more scared of us than we are of them. (we are still terrified of salt waters!!) The difference between a fresh water and salt water crocodile is freshies are smaller and only eat fish, salt waters you get the picture. Lake Argyle had an infinity pool it was awesome. We also found a few bower bird nests. The boy bower bird collects colourful things to try to impress the other birds.

We then went to Purnulu National Park also known as Bungle Bungles, we left the van behind and took tents to sleep in as the road in was too rough. it was hot, we went on a walk to echidna chasim and cathedral gorge. At Cathedral gorge we tried to hit toads with rocks.

after the bungle bungles we were just driving along and the tire of our van had a blow out. Then we replaced the tyre and got on our way. That night we stayed at a wayside stop. It was the best wayside stop I've ever seen.

The next day we kept driving and we found a problem with the tyre again. The bolts had come off where they are supposed to keep the wheel attached to the van. Then we called the tow truck and then we had ANOTHER problem. We were driving in the same place near the caravan to wait for the towtruck but the car had gone off an edge and was resting no longer on it's wheels, but on the pipes and joints underneath the car. A guy helped us who towed the car out of the ditch.

Then, we arrived at Broome. We stayed in a cabin because we had no van. The cabin was a lot like the ones we slept in at camp.When we tried to drive off, ANOTHER problem struck. THE CAR WAS OUT OF BATTERIES!!!! But we got it running. (and got a new battery). The pool at the campground was the best pool ever. It was 2.3 metres deep at the deep end.

We saw dinosaur footprints then we left that campsite and went to another campsite. It has a nice pool too. It has a small waterfall that you can duck under the waterfall and be in a little toddler style pool and it is fun to play in. Then I sat down and started writing a blog. The first 3 words were "Dear Grade 4", as you already know, because you just read it. Then we had a very nice dinner and ended with another two words-The End.

The Kimberleys

Dear Grade 3 friends and family,
On the third of May we went to Lake Argyle. there was an infinity pool a infinity pool is a pool with no sides.We swam in the lake that is why it's called Lake Argyle.

 At sunset we listened to live music the person who was playing the music was called Steve Case.

Then we went to the Bungle Bungles my Mum calls it the Fungle Fungles. On the way we stopped in at Kununurra and got some books from the Red Cross Opp shop as Tom and I have finished our books.

Bungle Bungles is a National Park real name is Purnululu. When we went on the Echidna Walk, we threw stones at the Toads. There is posters of the Toads saying that "The Alien has Landed". The Cane Toads are invading Australia and they have been at the Bungle Bungles for 2 years and are EVERYWHERE! It was really hot-35 degrees. We crossed lots of rivers and streams to get there. We camped in tents because it was too rough to take the van. I showered in my underpants under a tree!😃

The next day we got a flat tyre trying to go to Wolf creek but it was too ruff. The day after that the wheel nearly got stuck, and then mum got the car stuck i said in my mind "how could this day get any worse............and then IT DID so my dad had to call a towing service called RAC it stands for Royal Automobile Club. They took for ages!  So dad and me practiced some bowling  for next summer.

The van got put on a truck to go and get repaired. Now we have the Van back and we're at Cable Beach Caravan Park. It has a pool and a waterfall that you can go in under.

Yesterday we saw real dinosaur footprints in stone and lots of crabs. Last night we had crab for dinner. Have a  great genius day

Alice Springs-West MacDonnell Ranges Alice springs again & then north

dear grade3,

The other day I went on a BIG waterslide. It was twirley and fun, but it hurts your back a bit. It is 30 meters long and lots of kids go on it.

We stayed in Alice Springs for 2 night.

We then went out to West  MacDonell Ranges and saw a grass hopper and it was camouflaged. We went to Ellery waterhole, the water was cold, we went to Redbank gorge, Ormiston gorge and Glen Helen Gorge and my Dad (Brendan) taught me to skim rocks. We also went to the Ochre Pits where Aborigines dug out the clay to use for paint on their bodies for important celebrations.

Then we went back to Alice Springs. We had my Birthday there and we  went to the Desert Park for my family Party and we saw a big black Cockatoo, some Geckos and a Thorny Devil and lots of birds. We also saw a Marla, a cuuute little Numbat and a Bilby.

We had an Ice Cream Cake for my Birthday.

The temperature in Alice Springs has dropped now to 5 degrees overnight and it is cooler during the day.

The Alice Springs School of the Air is for Kids that have to talk on the radio or computer to do their lessons. The school is for kids that are spread over 1000's of kilometers living on cattle stations and isolated Aboriginal communities. We went to the Classroom (Studio) where the teacher conducts the lessons from.

On Monday we left Alice Springs and went over the Tropic of Capricorn. (Dad said it's a "line" that runs parallel to the Equator and it is the most southern point that the sun can truly be directly overhead). We're now in the Tropics and there is usually only two seasons. The Wet and the Dry.

We spent 2 BIG days in the car. We're now in Timber Creek. We came over the Buchanan Highway yesterday and we crossed two rivers that were crossing the road and the caravan got VERY dirty.

Alice springs to timber creek

Dear grade 4 and every one else who is reading this.
We are now in Timber Creek.
Yester day we stayed on the side of the highway but it was alot quieter than i expected. There werent many cars going into the petrol station near where we were staying. Alice springs to Renner springs was an 8 hour drive  starting at 8 in the morning and ending at 4 at night then Renner springs to Timber creek was a ten hour drive starting at 10 past 8 in the morning and  ended at 6 20. The nexet place where going to is called lake Argyle.
