Port Augusta to Coober Pedy

dear grade 4,
in this picture i am on top of the roof of the apartment we are staying in i know it may look like i am on solid ground but that's because i am.I am on the roof and on the ground because we are staying UNDER GROUND!Where in Coober Pedy and its so hot that people live under ground or in a mountain. Coober Pedy is a name made by aborigines it means white mans burrow. Coober Pedy is famous for its Opal. Opal is a type of gem stone that is worth alot of money-more than gold. Yesterday on our way to Port Augusta we crossed the Murray and it is much smaller than i thought. We were not allowed to bring fruit into the state because of a fruit fly that they don't want. One more thing that we saw today was a dead kangaroo we saw the top half but no bottom half

  1. Hey Tom! I LOVE Coober Pedy! Isn't it the coolest thing that they live underground?! Opals are one of my favourite kinds of rocks, did you get a chance to look for any yourself? I hope you're having so much fun and learning so many cool new things. Can't wait to read about the next stop! Love from Em xoxox
